Beebee provides a device to monitor the condition inside the apiary (bee nest) such as temperature, humidity and weight where from these conditions, it will give insights on what the farmers should do to increase the productivity or quality of the honey. Beebee also provides the remote monitoring services through developing the application that can reduce the need for the farmer to visit the colony, which will decrease colony disruptions. It will also do real time actions to maintain the optimal temperature and humidity for the bee house, therefore making the queen bee more comfortable and increasing colony productivity.

We are using IoT to increase the beekeeper productivity through :

  1. Controlling selected variables (temperature, humidity, weight, and sensor movement)
  2. Minimize bee colony disruption
  3. Remote monitoring and planned action (e.g : low humidity → sprinkle mist)

🎫  Social Issues

After initiating an initial research and further validation through continuous interview, we found out the three pain points from as a beekeeper :

  1. Difficulty in monitoring several sporadic apiary locations Due to the bee's behavior to produce more honey when the beehive location is being placed down the forest that is far from human lives or activities, therefore most of the beehive placement are sporadic.
  2. Uncontrolled apiary condition due to extreme weather changes One thing to note as well, the beehive materials (the woods) also affect the bee behaviors, there are particular woods that make bee become more aggressive and increase the production of honey
  3. Uncertain harvesting period
